Cub Scouts are young people aged between 8 and 10.5 years old.
The Cub Pack is run by the Cub Scout Leader and usually at least one Assistant Leader plus Section Assistants and where available a Young Leader. All are volunteers who give their time for free and receive special training for their role. They are responsible for planning and running a programme of activities.
Cub meetings are held on Thursday evenings during term-time between 18:15 and 19:45.
Cubs enjoy a great deal of fun and adventure which will lead to the award of badges to wear on their uniform. Participation, rather than meeting set standards, is the key approach, and there are a range of awards that Cub Scouts can gain to recognise their achievements. We design each term’s programme to help the Cubs have a balanced range of activities and work towards achieving a number of the Challenge and Activity Badges. Trips away such as sleepovers or camps and visits are usually a part of our exciting programme.
Each Pack has a number of smaller groups called Sixes and each has a Sixer who is the leader of the pack. We award points to packs and individual Cubs for good behaviour, making an effort and joining in. At the end of each term, members of the pack with the most points gain the pack badge for their uniform.
